About Us

Oz Soundz Music & Audio is a family-run, independent Australian music store — built by musicians, for musicians.

We're not a chain. We're not a corporate distributor. We're a family who has lived and breathed music for over four decades, and we started Oz Soundz Music & Audio because we believe every musician — student, indie artist, or seasoned professional — deserves access to quality gear at fair prices, backed by people who actually care.

Our Heritage

Music isn't just our business — it's our family. Our founder studied at the Newcastle Conservatorium, and music has run through every branch of the family tree since. Our eldest son is an accomplished keyboardist on the Sydney scene, with his own band's EP launched in 2024. Our daughter is a singer in her own right. Our youngest plays trombone and drums. You could say music is the lifeblood of our family — and that's exactly why we built Oz Soundz Music & Audio.

We're honest about where we're at: we're a startup, learning and growing alongside the artists and audio engineers we serve. We're travelling the same rough road. And that's what makes this real.

Our Community

Our point of difference is simple — we genuinely give a damn about the indie and grassroots music scene. We're building Oz Soundz Music & Audio alongside the artists we support, spotlighting local musicians through our social and online channels, and creating programs to help up-and-coming artists get the gear, exposure, and opportunities they need to build a career.

We're 100% online, which means Oz Soundz Music & Audio can support musicians and audio professionals anywhere across Australia — from the Hunter Valley to regional WA and everywhere in between.

Why grassroots?

Because it's where everything starts. Every successful musician on the planet began at the indie level — in a garage, a local pub, a school hall. We want Oz Soundz Music & Audio to be there at the beginning, not just when artists have already made it. Our community programs include:

  • Sponsorship initiatives and artist support programs
  • Social media spotlights for local artists and bands to grow their audience
  • Music events with prize money or equipment giveaways as we grow
